정의

-사실을 서술함을 나타내는 종결어미.

-(동사나 형용사, ‘이다, 아니다’에 붙어) 말하는 사람의 생각이나 사실을 말할 때 사용한다.

(The intimate style is a speech mood used to someone who is of an equal or lower status. In terms of the intimate style there are formal and informal speech levels. The final ending of the intimate style is to put ‘一어/아/여’ at the end of a verb-stem, which means that ‘요’ is deleted from the informal polite style of ‘-어요/아요/여요.’ This form could also be used to a person of higher status if she/he is close to the speaker.)

 

예문

수업은 9시에 시작해서 1시에 끝나.

(The class starts at 9 a.m and ends at 1 pm.)

화 났어? 왜 아무 말도 안 해?

(Are you angry? Why aren't you talking at all?)

‘이야/야’ is used for ‘이에요/예요’ after a noun.

우리 집은 신촌 근처야.

저 사람은 아주 유명한 사람이야.
